NBIAA Final 12

Castors Take Care of Unfinished Business

The Ecole Sainte-Anne Castors erase the memory of a 40 point loss to the Fundy Mariners a year ago to win their first AA title with a great effort against Woodstock.

The Castors and Thunder both came out swinging to start this one, as neither team could pull away. After ten minutes we were all knotted up at 18 apiece. Sainte-Anne were able to push things a little in the 2nd frame and they would outscore the Woodstock Thunder 14 – 10 to take a 32 – 28 lead into halftime.

These two AA powerhouses traded baskets as the scoring seem to dwindle a little in the third period. ESA put up 10 points in the quarter and Woodstock answered with 8, it was 42 – 36 for the Castors with 10 minutes to play. Woodstock could not find anything answer in the fourth quarter and the Castors outscored them 18 – 7 over the final 10 minutes to win 60 – 43.

The Castors were led by NBIAA All-Star and Player of the Game, Joel Clair who scored 9 points, while picking up a whopping 13 assists. His NBIAA All-star teammates, Thomas Lacroix (19 Pts, 7 Reb, annd 5 stl) and Charles Denis (15 Pts, 10 Reb) played big roles in the ESA victory. .

Woodstock were led by their NBIAA All-Star and Player of the game, Jackson McCartney who had 17 points and 11 Rebounds for his double-double. He was helped by Jordan Gallagher who chipped in 9 points in a losing cause.
