Red Hawks Lead Wire to Wire
- Updated: February 23, 2025

The Rothesay Red Hawks showed why they were the favourites as they took an early lead and never relinquished it as they pulled away in the second half to win their first AAA girls title in school history.
The top ranked Red Hawks and the Mathieu-Martin Vedettes battled hard in the early going as Rothesay took an early lead after 1 period, leading 13 – 9. The second quarter would be another tightly contested quarter as the Red Hawks outscored the Vedettes 22 – 18 and led at halftime 35 – 27.
Mathieu-Martin tried their best cut into the lead and cut the lead to 5 in the third but Rothesay answered back. The Vedette added 15 to Rothesay’s 14 in the period, Red Hawks lead 49 – 42 with 10 minutes to play. Early in the fourth, it looked like Mathieu-Martin were going to erase the deficit, but again Rothesay’s firepower was too much, Rothesay took the quarter 22 – 12 and the game 71 – 54 for the win.
Rothesay was lead by NBIAA All-star and player of the game, Neve Pearson who scored 22 points. NBIAA All-star Ella MacDonald added 17 points to go with her 5 steals and 7 assists and Julia Willoiams had 16 points and 15 rebounds for the double-double.
Mathieu-Martin was led by NBIAA All-star and player of the game, Sophie Doiron as she dropped 20 points and 10 boards for the Double-double. Team, and NBIAA All-star Eve Kalaha added 15 points and 9 boards in a losing cause.
Congratulations to the Rothesay Red Hawks on their AAA Girls Championship!!!
